Galway Dance Project is delighted to collaborate with An Taibhdhearc to host this dance and music workshop with sean nós singer Liam Ó Maonlaí and dance artist Amaia Elizabeth. This workshop will be an exploration of movement and sound, with live music from Liam Ó Maonlaí. This workshop is open to all levels of experience, being comfortable with movement is all that is required.
Amaia Elizaran and Liam Ó Maonlaí began working together in 2020 when they met on a Project commissioned for the Galway 2020 celebrations. They discovered there, an ability to follow a musical frequency with movement and to allow them, the movement to affect the music. In 2021 they worked for two months to develop ARIMA. Both Liam and Amaia allow room for new expression in this work based on improvisation that charts an emotional journey that explores the unfinished and the eternal.
Workshop takes place at An Taidhbhearc, Middle Street Galway on Saturday 9th September from 11am-1pm. Workshop participants also get a ticket to Amaia and Liam’s performance on Saturday evening at An Taibhdhearc
