Job Description – Finance/Studio Administrator (Contract role)
An exciting opportunity has arisen with Galway Dance (GD).
Galway Dance is seeking a part time (8 hours per week) remote Finance/Studio Administrator (contract role) to play a key role in the development of Galway Dance’s sustainability and management. The individual will work with the Executive Director, to assist in the administration of the organisation and scheduling of our dedicated studio space in Terryland House.
THE ROLE
Working together with the Executive Director, the key strands of the role are to assist in the administration of Galway Dance’s finances and run the calendar for studio rentals. This will include:
FINANCE
- Maintain the budget, by processing weekly cash transactions and invoices.
- Report weekly to the Executive Director with rentals, invoices and deposits.
- To assist in application budgets and end of year reports to the Arts Council, filling in B-AARs and AARs.
STUDIO
- To actively seek out new connections and studio renters for Galway Dance that will enhance further engagement with artists and audiences in the region.
- Organise the calendar for studio use.
- To liaise with the Executive Director on collecting contracts/LOA, proof of personal liability and invoicing for renters.
DESIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
GD is seeking an individual who would like to contribute positively to the development of professional dance practice in the region. The skills required for this role include:
Essential
- Ability to process simple financial transactions
- Strong organisational skills
- An ability to work on your own initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Access to own computer
Desirable
- Knowledge of Quickbooks and Excel
- Knowledge of the dance, arts and cultural landscape
- Understanding/experience in the Arts Council application process
- Galway based (position is remote)
ABOUT GALWAY DANCE
Galway Dance (GD) is a dance resource organisation and was established in 2011 to advance professional dance practice and to support the development of dance as an art form throughout Galway city and county. GD provides a year round programme of dance residencies and workshops through the west and north west of Ireland.
GD is funded by the Arts Council and Galway City & County councils. The organisation is currently managed by a part-time Executive Director.
CONTRACT TERMS
Contract Fee: At a daily rate of €200 (8 hours per week). The successful candidate will be responsible for their own tax affairs.
Term of Employment: 1-year contract with 6-month preliminary period – possibility of extension.
Please Note: It is not necessary to be based in Galway, however it is preferred. Attendance at some meetings and events in Galway will be required as part of the role.
