Róisín Whelan Dance / R.W.D. WORKSHOP
Sunday 5 NOV @ Galway Dance/Terryland
2-4pm
To accompany their production of Man Down at Town Hall Theatre Galway on Monday 6th November, R.W.D in association with Galway Dance will host a two hour workshop for professional dancers and advanced students over 16. Participants will be led through a movement and dance workshop exploring themes and ideas of the show.
This workshop is designed for professional dancers and students over 16 at an advanced level. The workshop begins with a warm-up, followed by learning excerpts from the show which involve highly physical floorwork phrases and duet work.
The work will delve into Róisin’s narrative style of movement with a focus on dynamic movement which will challenge the participant throughout.
We will be working with different qualities of repertoire from quick, count based phrases to more drawn out and smooth phrases that swap between floor and upright sequences, exploring dynamic qualities that are present throughout the show and taking on the emotional language of the performance through movement.
This will be a chance to explore Róisín’s work and her studio practice. Róisín will introduce you to some of the creative tasks used to create the performance.
Duration 2 hours
Places are limited to 16 participants.
This workshop is free for ticket holders and only available to those who hold a ticket to the performance. Please book as places are limited.
