Kundle Cru in association with Promenade: Work in Progress & Workshop

Kundle Cru in association with Promenade presents ‘BIRDS’ work in progress

4pm, Saturday August 31st. Duration 35/40 minutes

International circus and dance collective Kundle Cru have been making new work BIRDS over the last year through a series of residencies in Portugal, Cork and now Galway.

BIRDS takes the themes of injustice and oppression from cult classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. A raw expression of pent up frustration at today’s norms and expectations where our wings feel clipped and freedom is a luxury most of us can’t afford anymore. Will we wait for change or create it ourselves? Enjoy Kundle Cru’s unique style involving the unconventional use of a Chinese pole and hybrid style of juggling, contact dance and hip hop.

Team credits:  Kundle Cru’s  choreographer and director Matt Szczerek and performance team Timothy Kakeeto, Alessio Motta, Louiseanne Wong,  Composer and sound designer Jack Foster.

The development of BIRDS 2024 has been made possible thanks to financial support by the Arts Council of Ireland, Circus Factory and Fingal County Council. Additional production support provided by Circus Factory, Galway Dance, Promenade and the Everyman.
