Galway Dance Project is delighted to welcome US based choreographer and dance artist Stacey Printz of Printz Dance Company to Galway this June. Stacey has performed in San Francisco for 20+ yrs, and has toured extensively both nationally and internationally.
Stacey will lead a morning jazz and contemporary masterclass on Wednesday 21st & Thursday 22nd June from 10-11.30 am.
This class is an opportunity to bridge the space between contemporary, modern, and jazz forms. juicy, fun, joyous aspects of Jazz. Utilizing her 25+ years of teaching experience , Printz will offer up a mixed platter of technique, detailed gesture, syncopated rhythms, floor work, athleticism, and musically-driven, full-out movement. The class will include a fully embodied warm up, across the floor exercises, adagio, and of course, plenty of time for a combination. Printz teaches a hybrid contemporary-jazz style, that allows space for dancers of differing backgrounds to dig in, and cross pollinate.
Participants can attend both morning classes or just one class.
Stacey will also facilitate a 2 day choreographic lab on Wednesday 21st & Thursday 22nd June from 1-4pm on both days. Participants should be able to attend both days for the choreographic lab.
MOVE/MAKE — A choreography workshop with Printz Dance Project’s Artistic Director, Stacey Printz
This workshop will investigate personal relationships to movement and the body, and how one’s own dance impulses can meld and build into a shared language among a group. Through choreographic exercises, discussion, work with gesture and nuance, floorwork, solo and partnering, participants will be supported and guided through a development exploration. The two day workshop will culminate in a piece. Woven through the piece will be Printz’s movement, attention to storytelling and shared emotional connection. At this workshops heart is a place for dancers of differing backgrounds, genres and experience levels to come together, learn from one another, and to jointly be in process.
