Join resident dance artist Sara Sguotti for a morning class at Galway Dance Project’s Terryland Studio, from 10-11am on Monday and Tuesday 22-23rd May
In her works Sara always explore the potential of the collectivity.
She combines different types and techniques of movement, from floorwork to house dance, including some sections of somatic practices as well as performative and vocal tasks.
The focus of this kind of class is to bring consciousness and knowledge of everyone’s own body and to work on the possibility that can be explored thanks to the power that the dancing group has. The dancers are pushed to train and explore applying each one their own knowledge and experience and in this way the group can contribute to the realization a commune upgrade. It is therefore a class where individual attention is placed within a broader collective awareness guided by symbiotic transmission
Bio
Sara Sguotti is an Italian-based dancer, performer and choreographer interested in singular, plural and collective bodies. She loves all the shapes of micro collectivity and the tangle of thoughts.
Her works indagate the intimate space, the elsewhere and the space of the collectivity. She’s mostly struggling with the Italian system to identify and place herself. She would like to find a non-exclusive space\place where to set herself.
She works as dancer and collaborator for Compagnia Virgilio Sieni, Anton Lachky, Company Blu, Damien Jalet, Roberto Magro, Simona Bertozzi, Cristina Kristal Rizzo, Jacopo Jenna, Nicola Simone Cisternino, Tommaso Serratore, Elena Giannotti, Perypezye Urbane, Atelier delle Arti, LoStabileDiLì, Attivisti Della Danza and WANNAWANNAWANNA.
Her personal choreographic path began with S.solo. (winner of DNA choreographic notes and of the 2017 Anticorpi platform).
Her past works are: S.Ritual, Space Oddity and Dedica Lontana.
She’s currently involved in the production MONUMENTUM and Echoes by Cristina Rizzo, in the new production by Virgilio Sieni UMANO and in the new production Dance Macabre of Jacopo Jenna. Since 2020 she’s collaborating with DanceWell group. She created HOP, a work for the community and in 2021 she curated a choreographic project for the young company OpusBallet, VENTIVENTI with the collaboration of POLIMODA fashion and design accademy of Florence. Her production Some.Other.Place., Selected for NID 2021 in the Open Studios section, premiered in Brighton Fringe Festival.
In the last year she started a collaboration with the writer Arianna Ulian for their new work CrePa, hosted in residency at Tanzhaus of Zurich.
For her last research and process It’sHardToBeHuman she is happy to be able to collaborate with her artistic and productive team thanks to Perypezye Urbane, all the co-productor and R.A.T. a residency award she won with the project in 2021\22.
